Estate Administration & Trust Administration
A well-crafted estate plan is only as good as what happens when it needs to be carried out. Our firm supports families through the administration process, including the settlement of an estate after a loss and the ongoing administration of trusts. This is where the work of lifetime estate planning comes full circle, and where having a knowledgeable, steady advisor makes all the difference.
Estate Administration
When a loved one passes, the process of settling their estate can feel overwhelming, especially during an already difficult time. Samantha guides executors/personal representatives and families through every step of the administration process: probating the Will, marshaling assets, preparation of estate tax returns, paying estate taxes, and making distributions to beneficiaries.
Trust Administration
Trusts do not administer themselves. A Trustee is a fiduciary and owes the Trust’s beneficiaries the highest standard of care. We advise Trustees on their duties and help them navigate the ongoing administration of Trusts: accounting for trust assets, income tax planning, managing beneficiary inquiries and requests, handling distributions, and coordinating with financial and tax advisors to ensure proper administration of Trusts. For highly-sensitive and complex trust structures, it may be appropriate for Jennifer to serve as Trustee, including as a co-Trustee with another family member or professional advisor, to ensure the client’s goals and intentions are carried through in the administration of the Trust.
